2days-tour focused on Comacchio and its Po Delta Park.

2 days

Emilia Romagna: Comacchio & Po Delta Park

Description
1° DAY: COMACCHIO
Visit the historic centre of Comacchio: the majestic Trepponti and the main historical monuments. Then reach  Manifattura dei Marinati, a dive into the past where we will learn eel processing.

We will conclude with a tasting of marinated products and a glass of wine.
Free time for a delicious aperitif not far from the historic centre or a light lunch, in a farmhouse surrounded by 122 hectares of nature - about 10 km far away from the centre of Comacchio - starting point for visiting the splendid area and enjoying an atmosphere typical of simple and friendly country life.
In the early afternoon we will reach Pomposa Abbey for a visit to the Benedictine complex, then stop at a winery where we will explore a wine tourism reality in the Po Delta area. Visit to the vineyards and guided tasting of Bosco Eliceo wines and delicatessen.
In the late afternoon return to Comacchio and check-in and get ready for a refined and Gourmet tasting dinner.
At the end we can take a short walk in the centre.
Overnight stay.

2° DAY: PO DELTA PARK
After breakfast and check-out proceed towards STAZIONE FOCE, the embarkation point to begin our exploration in Comacchio Valleys for a navigation (about 2 hours).
Accompanied by an environmental guide, you will sail in the ancient bed of the Po River, skirting the former salt pans of Comacchio, the flamingo's nesting place: the colony today numbers around 25.000 specimens and during navigation the sighting frequency is very high. We will stop at the old “fishing huts”, where the guide will illustrate the fishing methods, the ancient traditions, the habits and customs of the people of Comacchio. The route includes a visit to the Open-Air Archaeological Park which hosts the reconstruction of two houses in the ancient Etruscan city of Spina.
At the end, short stop for a light lunch in a typical restaurant, housed inside an ancient "fishing house" with rustic furnishings and the large fireplace where the eel, the queen of the valleys, was once cooked, make the atmosphere timeless. Lunch will end with a tasting of AMARO DELTA ANTICO, an excellence of the territory. One of our collaborators will illustrate how a Bitter is born in the Po Delta.

In the afternoon we head towards Ostellato passing through Santa Maria in Padovetere, certainly an important point of reference for tourist itineraries, as it constitutes the oldest place of Christian worship in the Comacchio area.
The arrival point will be a brewery run by 4 guys who, with love and passion, try their hand at producing a good beer. We will conclude with a tasting of 3 beers.
